A few months ago, I asked, "Can a bathrobe be inspirational?" It turns out the answer is yes, because my favourite bathrobe (well, it's more a summer brunch coat, if I'm being honest) has inspired this Posy Quilt in progress:
Here's a reminder of the fabric in my robe:
When I saw Aneela Hoey's Posy fabric, the colours reminded me of the fabric in my robe and I knew, novice quilter that I am, that I would have to make a Posy quilt. I am making a single bed sized quilt, which is the biggest quilt I have made so far. Until now, I have only made cot quilts (of various sizes).
I am making picture blocks - ie, I am using the picture fabrics in the Posy range as the centre of each block and then framing each picture with two, three or four borders.
The pictures range in size from 1" to 4". Each finished block will be 12".
I was feeling a bit "meh" just recently about my quilt design, but one lovely reader suggested that I spice things up with a fabric or two outside the Posy range. Brilliant! I have taken that advice and I am feeling re-energised. These lovely lavender spots have been added, and you just see a peek of a mint green fabric at the top of the photo below - that's new too. You might also see a hint of a lovely lemony Flower Sugar fabric in some of the photos.
I am also adding a hint of the pearl bracelet by Lizzie House, to pick up on the red in the flowers above.
All in all, I am feeling positive about my progress on my Posy quilt.
I am, however, quite terrified about the prospect of trying to machine quilt it on my trusty old Janome MyExcel! The only thing more terrifying, would be trying to hand-quilt it!
